Spider-Man Pictures: A New Age of Classic Entertainment

In 1962, Marvel Comics introduced a shy, mild mannered teen named Peter Parker to the world. You may know him better as Spider-Man -- a superhero with all kinds of amazing spider powers and a cool red and blue suit. Peter Parker turned into Spider-Man after being bitten by a radioactive arachnid at a science exhibition. It was only after deciding to go after the villain who killed his uncle did Parker decide to use his Spider-Man alter-ego for the purposes of crime fighting. If you think this sounds interesting, you're not alone. Spider-Man comics and cartoons were so popular that in 2002, the first live action movie picture was released.

The first Spider-Man picture, or film was released to lots of eager fans who snatched up tickets and made the film one of the most popular to date. It could definitely be called a blockbuster, and starred Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man, Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn aka the Green Goblin, and James Franco as Osborn's son Harry. The film is quite accurate as far as the story line is concerned. After witnessing the death of his beloved uncle, Peter decides to use his spider powers to catch his uncle's killer. Along the way, he battles villains and even finds time for a little romance with Mary Jane Watson.

Next comes Spider-Man 2. This movie won an Academy Award and stars many of the same actors as the first film. This movie picks up two years after the end of the last one. At the start of this movie, Peter is having lots of problems in most every aspect of his life. Mary Jane becomes engaged to someone else, he experiences a falling out with his best friend Harry (who doesn't know that Peter is Spider-Man or that his own father was the Green Goblin) and his idol Otto Octavius turns into a villain named Doctor Octopus. For awhile, Peter even hangs up his spider suit and vows to quit -- that is, until Mary Jane is kidnapped by Doctor Octopus.

In 2007 Spider-Man pictures fans will surely fill the theaters for the third in a very successful movie franchise. The third movie stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, of course, but also a few new cast members. Thomas Haden Church plays Sandman, while Topher Grace lends his talents as Venom. It's sure to be a great movie that Spider-Man fans everywhere will enjoy!

Murder suspect's attorney asks judge for dismissal of one indictment
An attorney for Thomas 'Spider' Sanders on Thursday asked a federal judge to dismiss one of the indictments that charged the Mississippi man with the murder of a 12-year-old Nevada girl, whose body was found in October 2010 in the woods of Catahoula Parish. Ansel 'Marty' Stroud III, one of Sanders' attorneys, told U.S. District Judge Dee Drell that the second, 'superceding' indictment in early 2011 had the contents of the first one but squeezed two felony charges instead of the one in the original indictment, which a Shreveport grand jury issued in late 2010. Stroud said the second indictment amounts to double jeopardy, with two charges that each could get Sanders the death penalty. 'You're giving the government two bites at the apple to come back with the death penalty,' Stroud said. Sanders sat quietly in the courtroom Thursday, sporting a full beard and quite a few more pounds than he had when he was arrested in November 2010. Prosecutors alleged Sanders killed Lexis Roberts' mother in Arizona in late summer 2010, then kidnapped Lexis, drove her to the rural Louisiana parish of Catahoula, shot her multiple times then slit her throat. Lexis' body lay in the woods about a month before hunters found her. Suellen Roberts, Lexis' mother, was found dead in Arizona after Sanders was arrested in Mississippi in November 2010. The three had taken a Labor Day trip from Nevada to Arizona. Sanders at first was indicted on a kidnapping charge that led to Lexis' death. The indictment also contained a forfeiture count that, if he was found guilty, called for Sanders to give up the gun allegedly used to kill her. The second indictment contained two charges -- kidnapping and using a firearm to kill Lexis. Stroud and other attorneys for Sanders also said the second indictment violated provisions of the Speedy Trial Act because it was handed down more than 30 days after Sanders was arrested. Drell did not rule on Sanders' requests Thursday. Drell has given Bill Flanagan and Nicole Snyder, assistant U.S. attorneys, until July 2 to decide whether the government would seek the death penalty...
