What to Expect from Spider-Man 3
Spider-Man 3 which was released in May 2007 was another eagerly anticipated movie by fans everywhere. The director of the first two hit films, Sam Raimi, directed this third installment as well. Tobey Maguire will be putting on the spider suit once more, and will be joined by previous cast members such as Kirsten Dunst and James Franco. New cast members appearing for the first time include Academy Award nominated actor Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace from That 70's Show.
This film will pick up where the second one left off. At this point, Peter Parker is being romantically pursued by two women -- Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy. It seems that he is also becoming smug and forgetting about the people who need him the most. He also finds out there is evidence which shows that Sandman killed his uncle, so he vows to destroy this villan by himself. Another interesting plot point is the alien creature brought to Earth by John Jameson which affects Peter as Spiderman for the worst. Eventually, Peter realizes he must battle the villan inside himself. The alien ends up merging with Eddie Brock, Jr. to create one of the most recognizable Spiderman villains -- Venom.
The third Spiderman film is estimated to have a budget of $250 million. This would make it the most costly film made to date, a record now held by King Kong which cost $207 million to create. The visual effects in this movie alone are stunning. Sony Pictures Imageworks has even designed and implemented brand new technology just for this film. One controversy regarding the making of this film is the departure of Danny Elfman, who did the music score for Spiderman 2. Elfman claims he had great difficulty working with the director which is why he chose not to return for the third Spiderman film.
Moviegoers will get to see the trailer for Spider-Man 3 before the showing of the newest James Bond film, Casino Royale. There's no doubt that this movie will be a smashing success, as were the previous two Spider-Man films. Look for a wide variety of related merchandise to hit stores such as posters, books, soundtracks, video games and much more. The Spider-Man franchise is as hot as ever and shows no signs of slowing down!
